How Oh So Sweet Started: The Highs, Lows & Heart Behind the Brand
Hi, I’m Lucy — wife to Michael, Stoke-on-Trent girl, absolute foodie, self-confessed people pleaser, and the very proud owner of Oh So Sweet Grazing & Events.
If you’ve ever wondered how this business came to life…here it is.
The real story, told from the heart.
Where It All Began — A Side Hustle With a Big Vision
January 2022.
A tiny idea.
A big dream.
Zero business experience.
A whole lot of passion.
Oh So Sweet began as a simple side hustle — something creative, something exciting, something that felt more me than the 9–5 routine I’d fallen into.
After the pandemic, people were craving connection.
Moments together felt more precious.
Food felt more meaningful.
I wanted to bring people back together — properly together — with food that felt like an experience, not just something nice on a plate. Something that made people stop, smile, take a picture, have a conversation. Something that brought joy back into rooms that had been far too quiet for far too long.
And so… Oh So Sweet was born.
A Journey Shaped by Travel, Culture & 10 Years of living overseas
Before all this, I spent a decade living overseas and working for Monarch Airlines — the kind of job that changes who you are.
I travelled the world, met incredible people, experienced new cultures, tasted food I didn’t even know existed, and learned how important connection really is.
But more than anything, I learned:
✨ how to make people feel special
✨ the importance of details
✨ the power of warm, genuine customer service
✨ how food can bring strangers together
That experience built the foundation of Oh So Sweet long before I even knew I’d be running a business one day.
Returning Home — And Feeling Like Something Was Missing
When I moved back to the UK in 2016, I slipped straight into the “normal” routine. Stable job, stable life, stable everything.
But I didn’t feel like me.
There was always this voice in the back of my mind whispering that I was meant to create something. Something connected to food, people, hospitality, experience, service — all the things I loved.
Then… we got engaged.
And it hit me.
There was a huge gap in the market for stunning, thoughtful, beautifully styled grazing experiences — the kind of food that feels like décor and indulgence all in one.
And that spark?
That was it.
That was Oh So Sweet.
Growing Into One of the UK’s Biggest Grazing Companies
Fast forward to today, and Oh So Sweet has grown beyond anything I ever imagined.
We’ve become one of the UK’s largest and most loved grazing companies — serving weddings, events, brand launches, corporate gatherings, baby showers, birthdays, and everything in between.
We’ve built an incredible team.
We’ve travelled across the country.
We’ve fed thousands of guests.
We’ve created moments that people still talk about months (and years) later.
It’s surreal.
It’s humbling.
And it’s something I’m grateful for every single day.
The Highs — The Moments That Make It All Worth It
There are so many highs, but a few will always stay with me:
💛 Seeing a bride cry happy tears when she walks into her reception and sees the grazing table of her dreams.
💛 Hearing guests gasp, “Don’t touch it yet, I need a picture!”
💛 The repeat clients who’ve allowed me to be part of their engagements, weddings, baby showers, birthdays and everything in between.
💛 Building a team that believes in the brand as much as I do.
💛 Knowing this business changed my whole life — and my confidence with it.
And the best part?
Every event feels special.
No two are ever the same.
And every single client still feels like family.
The Lows — The Side You Don’t See on Instagram
Running a business with no experience sounds romantic…
But the truth? It’s hard.
Really hard.
Some of the lows include:
💔 Learning everything from scratch — marketing, accounting, food safety, legal paperwork, pricing, branding.
💔 Working round the clock, especially in the early days, with zero days off.
💔 The hate and losing people along the way , you really see who is genuine and who isn’t
💔 Burnout — the kind that creeps up when you give everything you have to your clients and forget to save something for yourself.
💔 Self-doubt, wondering if the dream is too big or the competition too strong and this never stops
💔 The pressure of being responsible — for customers, for quality, for the team, for your reputation.
💔 The “quiet months” panic that every business owner knows too well.
But here’s the thing…
Every challenge shaped me.
Every difficulty taught me something.
Every wobble built resilience.
I didn’t come from a business background.
I didn’t have a plan.
I just had passion, people skills, and a love for making others happy.
And honestly?
Sometimes that’s more powerful than any business degree.
Why I Keep Going — The Heart of Oh So Sweet
My why is simple:
✨ I LOVE food.
✨ I LOVE people.
✨ I LOVE creating experiences that bring joy.
✨ I LOVE making others feel looked after, special, celebrated.
This business isn’t just a job — it’s a huge part of who I am.
Oh So Sweet was built on heart, connection, and the belief that food brings people together in the most beautiful way. And every graze, every display, every personalised biscuit, every event is crafted with that same love and intention.
